Since its founding in November 2005, the company has been developing it's
Internet-based service, offering a basic version, Foundations, for free
since the middle of 2006. Then, based on customer feedback, that product’s
features evolved into the company’s current offering.
Oprius won the VIATech Emerging
Technology Company of the Year award in 2007 for its innovation and
simplification of often too complicated CRM solutions. Oprius is dedicated
to listening to their customers and developing a solution that is easy to
use while maintaining all the features you need to do your job.

I will always find nits to pick, but Oprius
provides a very nice hosted solution for individual sales pros working
alone.
Strategic Vision
The company got their start working with folks in network marketing. I
think they need to give a little more research to understand the
requirements of the typical sales pro working on their own. However, do seem
to be conscientiously working to provide a great system for solo sales pros.
Tactical Execution
I have only been tracking these folks for a few months now. However, they
have met all of their commitments to me and have been thoroughly
professional at all times.
Technological Foundation
The company has yet to reveal any details about their underlying solution
architecture. I will beat on them for more information here and post here
when available.
Core Capabilities
Oprius does a very good job of the core contact management capabilities.
Total Customer Life-Cycle Management
Since they are providing a solution for individual sales people working
alone, Oprius does not even address most of the issues I examine in total
customer life-cycle management. For most of their target customers, they do
provide a reasonable feature set. However, even solo sales pros need to deal
with sales forecasting, if only to assure that they meet their own personal
earning goals! So, I will look for some evolutionary product development in
the coming year.
Total Cost of Ownership
Oprius is one of the most reasonably priced systems that I have reviewed.
Hell, it’s a bargain! Your only expense is the modest monthly fee. There are
no hidden costs to sneak up and bite you.
Looking Forward
Oprius has room to grow. For example, I would like to see them integrate
with Skype and a good fax service. They forget that people still need to
communicate on paper at times. So, at some point, I would look for
integration with Google Docs or OpenOffice.
Overall, Oprius is a targeted team doing some great work. I think they are a
perfectly safe choice for anyone shopping for a solution now and it will be
fun to see what they come up with in the future.
