About the Program:
The goal of the Center is to enhance and promote the field of
professional selling through research, service to the business community,
and by producing college graduates who are uniquely prepared for successful
careers in sales.
The Centers sales curriculum includes four courses in sales and sales
management as well as several related marketing electives. While the
students do spend time in the classroom, the bulk of the students coursework
is experiential, giving them the opportunity to practice their skills.
Some of the course work includes selling advertising space in the local
business community, role playing (in video lab setting), managing contacts
and territories using CRM software, and sales management.
In addition to our programs for students, the center serves the business
community by providing sales and customer service training, sponsoring
seminars, making presentations on current (and timeless) sales topics, and
hosting an annual sales career fair.
The annual Sales Career Fair is the largest of its kind and is attended by
78 companies and 300 students. The career fair represents a unique
opportunity for sales recruiters and sales students to meet, network, and
discuss their futures.
Finally, in an effort to increase the connection between our students, our
programs, and the business community, the Center has established an Advisory
Board of business executives. The role of the Advisory Board is to help
ensure the sales curriculum matches the needs of the business community,
help grow and promote the Center, and provide career advice to undergraduate
students.
